Water production

The priority that was given to the development of water production, treatment and transport facilities has allowed to increase the quantities of water produced from 90 million m3 in 1968 to 454 million m3 in 2007.

Surface waters:

The waters produced by different dams represent 56,7 % of the total production in 2007.

Ground waters:

The waters produced by different wells (ground waters) represent 39,3 % of the global production in 2007.

Desalinated waters:

The output of the four brackish water desalination plants represent 4 % of total production.

Water treatment

SONEDE has several water treatment plants. The most important ones are:

Water desalination

Water resource mobilisation is backed up by brackish water desalination in order to improve the quality of distributed waters. These resources will be reinforced through recourse to seawater desalination.
